The Social Media Strategist is a highly motivated, creative individual with experience and a passion for connecting with current and future customers. That passion comes through as he/she engages with customers on a daily basis, with the ultimate goal of turning fans into advocates. Must have social media skills and platform experience. This includes knowing what type of content works best on each platform, optimizing content accordingly, as well as understanding the different nuances of each platform. Must be a team player that understands brand and the importance of collaboration.

Responsibilities

MONITOR AND ANALYZE

  • Analyze the effectiveness of social activities to evolve the marketing plan
  • Report against all marketing activities, complete with actionable insights
    Identify, evaluate and make recommendations related to new and emerging channels, tools and techniques
  • Monitor competitors and the supply chain industry to provide relevant intelligence
  • Monitor social media platforms for brand mentions and engagement opportunities

CREATE AND CULTIVATE

  • Development of brand awareness, online reputation and brand advocacy
  • Build a brand ambassador network
  • Post and comment on relevant blogs
  • Seed content into social networks
  • Write editorial content
  • Create and publish relevant, original and high quality content, story ideas, and assets (videos, infographics, etc.) that motivate and excite online communities
    Collaborate with team to respond to relevant mentions
  • Provide remote and occasional on-site support for events/campaigns (real-time posting and engagement)
  • Work with internal and external teams to develop creative and unique marketing campaigns
  • Cultivate activities of leads and sales

MANAGE

  • Deliberate planning and goal setting
  • Manage social media campaigns and day to day activities
  • Create budgets for social media activities
  • Develop and manage ongoing content and editorial calendar that aligns with marketing and communications objectives
  • Manage community blogger and outreach programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or other relevant field; 4-5 years related experience
  • Understanding of the specific principles of social media in addition to general marketing and communications concepts
  • In-depth understanding of brand
  • Experience in using social networking sites with a proven understanding of how to leverage these sites to attract the most interest from the company’s target audience
  • Ability to match content with the appropriate platform and optimize content accordingly.
  • An understanding of the different nuances of each platform
  • Interest in and ability to engage people in conversation via social media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player who understands the importance of collaboration
  • Project management and organization skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills; strategic thinker
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, metrics and tracking
  • Social media, platform, and web publishing experience
  • Experience managing communications through website planning, management and production
  • Ability to use computer software associated with job duties
