LoveToKnow Media is a fast-growing digital media company with a diverse family of websites, such as YourDictionary.com, a best-in-class dictionary, grammar and reference site, and LovetoKnow.com, which aims to help people solve problems, get advice, and find expert information. We are currently looking for a staff writer to join our editorial content team.

We are looking for writers with solid experience and knowledge of grammar, literacy, and education, preferably at the high school or college level. This means education and/or work experience that is directly related to these areas, not just experience as a writer. Maybe you’re an educator who has taught varied subjects and has a penchant for punctuation, or a writer with a teaching degree who can tell an aphorism from an arthropod. We want a writer who can create accessible, informative content covering a wide range of grammatical and educational topics for learners of all ages.

Job Description

This is a telecommuting employee position. Writers create high-quality content that addresses our readers’ needs and adheres to company guidelines.

About the Role

This writer will mainly work on YourDictionary.com but will also write for other LoveToKnow Media sites as required. The ideal staff writer has a love of (and is knowledgeable in) the fields of English grammar and language arts, preferably with a strong education background. Familiarity with the sciences or social sciences would be beneficial. Experience working with a content management system (CMS) is a plus.

As a remote Staff Writer, you will:

  • Write high-quality articles that address the needs and queries of our readers
  • Ensure that all articles are written in a timely manner consistent with company guidelines
  • Work on fixing older content, such as updating and rewriting existing articles
  • Keep an accurate record of time worked
  • Communicate with the rest of the editorial team as needed
  • Attend regular (virtual) meetings
  • Give your feedback, ideas, and suggestions on LoveToKnow Media properties
  • Allot time for working on personal authority/branding

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Minimum of one-year’s professional writing experience
  • Familiarity with the principles of writing for a web audience
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to follow style guides, brand guidelines, and voice standards
  • Self-motivated, with excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to tackle a variety of article types
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education or a related field

Great to Have:

  • Master’s degree in English, Education or a related field
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Associated Press (AP) style
  • Experience teaching at a secondary grade level or above
